'Good Morning America' will be live on a WSF ferry during WA broadcast

Washington is next up for GMA's "America the Beautiful: 50 States in 50 Weeks," a program that broadcasts from each state in order they joined the U.S. The series started last July with a segment filmed in Delaware and will coincide with the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 2026.

The segment will be filmed aboard a special Seattle to Bainbridge Island sailing on the morning of Thursday, May 7, according to the Seattle Times. The live 4 a.m. PST broadcast will align with the ABC program's usual airtime of 7 a.m. EST. The segment will air on tape delay at 7 a.m. PST for West Coat viewers.

GMA also filmed a segment earlier this week with Puget Sound Express, a local family-owned whale watching tour company, that will air alongside the live broadcast.

“We’re so excited to have been selected to showcase Puget Sound Express and the Hanke family’s 41-year legacy,” the company wrote on Instagram, “while also highlighting the wonderful waters that we call home!”

The first regular sailing of the day from Bainbridge Island to Seattle is at 4:45 a.m., and the first Seattle weekday sailing launches at 5:30 a.m.
