Daredevil: Born Again was officially renewed for a third season in September 2025 and reportedly began filming in early 2026

Season 3 was renewed months before the second season hit Disney+ in March 2026

In addition to several returning cast members, new stars to Born Again have also been confirmed

Even though Daredevil: Born Again season 2 has come to an end, fans can still look forward to a third season on the way.

Despite some of the cast members going back and forth on whether or not the second season would be the show's last, the Disney+ series was officially renewed in September 2025, per Deadline.

The Marvel Comics series, which aired its season 2 finale on May 5, stars Charlie Cox as Daredevil, Vincent D'Onofrio as Kingpin, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Margarita Levieva as Muse, Wilson Bethel as Bullseye, Elden Henson as Franklin "Foggy" Nelson and more.

Although the series hasn't released an official timeline or plot synopsis for season 3, several cast members were seen filming in New York City in spring 2026. Some of the photos teased a major twist for the upcoming season that was confirmed in the season 2 finale.

The Daredevil: Born Again season 2 finale, titled "The Southern Cross," hit Disney+ on May 5. Throughout the second season, Matt Murdock, a.k.a. Daredevil, was working to rid the city of Mayor Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin, his corrupt administration and his Anti-Vigilante Task Force.

However, Daredevil and several of his fellow vigilantes had to go underground in order to expose Kingpin's lies.

In the season 2 finale, Murdock ultimately comes to the conclusion that the only way he can take down Fisk is to expose his own true identity as Daredevil. In the middle of a packed courtroom with Fisk, Murdock stuns the world when he says, "I am Daredevil."

Just when Murdock is finally able to tell the truth, Fisk and his Anti-Vigilante Task Force take over the building and chaos ensues. Instead of accepting a deal to leave New York for good, Fisk embarks on a murder spree and kills anyone protesting his power. Daredevil finally steps in and convinces Fisk to take the deal and leave.

Although Murdock successfully brings down Fisk, it doesn't come without a cost, as he is arrested on charges of assault and manslaughter, among others, for his role in fighting crime as a vigilante.

While viewers will have to wait for season 3 to see if Murdock can evade his charges and continue to help the city, they can rest assured knowing that one major character is making a comeback to the universe.

The final moments of the finale reveal that Luke Cage (Mike Colter) has finally returned home and reunited with Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) and their daughter, Danielle.

Meanwhile, in a major shock, two original Daredevil stars from the Netflix series were also photographed filming in April 2026, per Entertainment Weekly.

Colter, who portrayed Cage, and Finn Jones, who played Danny Rand, were seen reprising their roles. In addition to the reunion, the fourth original Defender, Jones played by Ritter, is also expected to return after making a comeback on season 2.

If this reunion does indeed happen, season 3 will mark the first time that all the original Defenders have reunited since the show originally aired on Netflix.

The season 3 renewal news surfaced after both Cox and D'Onofrio shared differing opinions on whether or not season 2 would be Daredevil's last. While speaking about season 2 at GalaxyCon in August 2025, Cox referred to it as the "final season."

However, D'Onofrio later responded to fans' concerns and wrote on X that there was a "good chance there will be a third."

"I've just tweeted about why it's confusing and the fact there is a very good chance we will have a third," he added in a follow-up message. "It's just too early to tell. But it's very likely."

As for the newer cast members, both Colter and Jones teased their interest in returning to the franchise.

“I've had discussions with Marvel," Colter said in a March 2026 episode of Inside of You. "I do think that it's very, very likely that I will come back at some point, but I don't know when. But I think I will."

Jones echoed that sentiment and said during a March 2025 anime convention, "I'm very aware of the critiques of the character and my role in it. My response to that is like, 'Give me a f---ing chance, man.' I'm here and I'm ready. I want to prove people wrong. So I would love to see that happen."

Showrunner Dario Scardapane also addressed the third season and returning cast members.

"Luke Cage is a big part of season 3," Scardapane said, per ComicBookMovie. "And the funny thing [his return] is hiding an Easter egg. If you know these characters' history and you know some of the comic book runs, you'll know what's happening. We tipped our hand for season 3 incredibly at the end of season 2."

The official Daredevil: Born Again season 3 release date has not been announced. As of May 2026, the season still appears to be in production.

However, ahead of season 1, Winderbaum told Screen Rant that they "plan" to have an annual March release date. Since season 2 premiered on March 24, season 3 could drop around the same time in 2027.

"Season 2 will come out next year, and then, hopefully, season 3 and season infinity after that," he told the outlet in February 2025.

Where can I watch Daredevil: Born Again?
