Will Forte just gave Tina Fey quite the compliment.
The Saturday Night Live alum worked with Fey on that show and on his current romantic dramedy, Netflix’s The Four Seasons.
Working with Fey is “the best,” the Coyote vs. Acme star said.
Will Forte is as enamored of Tina Fey as the rest of us, after having worked with her for decades.
“It’s the best,” he told PEOPLE of having costarred on Saturday Night Live and the Netflix dramedy The Four Seasons with her. “Anytime you get to work with somebody that you’re friends with is always fantastic. I have known Tina for years, but then coming in, you’re still a little nervous, you want to do a good job and stuff, but, with Tina, I’ve known her for so long. That’s number one. Number two, she’s a comedy queen, right?”

They both worked on Saturday Night Live in the 2000s, and he appeared a dozen times on her NBC comedy 30 Rock. They play husband and wife on The Four Seasons, on which she is also a co-creator and a writer.
“Everything she does is so well put together, so incredibly well written,” Forte said. “Everything is top-notch. The people that she works with, she’s been working with the same people for a long time. A lot of the 30 Rock crew is intact there because she just knows how to put together a group of people who are so kick-ass at their jobs and also just cool people that you want to hang around with. There’s a real art to that.”
On their latest, Fey and the Coyote vs. Acme star play Kate and Jack, one of several couples who vacation together over the years. Problems arise and dynamics change after one couple splits. Steve Carell, Colman Domingo, Kerri Kenney-Silver, Marco Calvani, and Erika Henningsen costar.
Domingo is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series at next month’s Emmy Awards.

Forte is also impressed with the show.
“So, not only is she maybe the best there ever has been at comedy writing, certainly up there with all the greats,” he said of Fey, “but she’s just, like, knows how to put together groups of awesome people. So to be a part of that in any way is exciting, but to have the honor of actually playing her husband in something? Wow. I mean, what an honor.”

And there’s more of that to come.
In June, Netflix announced that it had renewed The Four Seasons for a third season.
While a release date hasn’t been announced yet, Fey teased that there would be more cozy vibes in the series about love and friendship.
“It’s been the goal from the jump,” Fey told Tudum. “Let’s get a group of people that are nice, gentle, and talented, have a lovely time, and hopefully convey that onscreen.”
