Why didn't the WNBA rescind Caitlin Clark's latest technical foul?
The WNBA did not rescind Indiana Fever superstar guard Caitlin Clark's latest technical foul from Monday night's home Phoenix Mercury win, per The Athletic's James Boyd.
An animated Clark told reporters on Monday evening that she received the tech for "clapping and instigating" during a viral brouhaha during the Fever and Mercury.
Four other players, Fever guard Sophie Cunningham, Fever forward Myisha Hines-Allen, Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas and Mercury forward DeWanna Bonner, all received techs in the moment as well. Hines-Allen later picked up a second tech in another moment with Thomas and was ejected.
Why didn't the league rescind Clark's clapping tech when Dallas Wings superstar forward Paige Bueckers had a similar tech rescinded earlier in the season? Our best guess is that Clark's technical foul came in the middle of a heated moment between the two teams and that the "instigating" charge caused it to stick.

Clark now has five technical fouls on the season and will be suspended for one game if she picks up three more. She seems to embrace the possible penalty as a sign the league is over-calling technical fouls.
"We should all just go on the calendar now and pick a game that I'm gonna be suspended for if I'm gonna get technicals for clapping," Clark told reporters after Monday night's game.
We'll see if Clark is able to cut down the technical fouls or if a one-game suspension is looming on the horizon.
When do the Fever and Mercury play again?
Wednesday evening at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
