The 63rd season at Providence's Trinity Repertory will be one of transition, marked by a historic anniversary.

The five-show 2026-2027 season marks the final season shaped by outgoing Artistic Director Curt Columbus as Meredith McDonough assumes the role.

The season will also serve as the host of the 50th anniversary production of "A Christmas Carol" with a return to Trinity Rep’s Dowling Theater.

"I am so excited for Meredith's first season as Artistic Director, and I loved collaborating on this theatrical lineup with her,” Columbus said in a statement. “It celebrates what has made Trinity Rep remarkable since its founding: a dedication to our resident company of artists; a focus on work that entertains, challenges and illuminates; and a commitment to our community here in Rhode Island and Southern New England.”

“The shows we’ve chosen are as smart as they are moving and are filled with the laughter of human experience. They center on people owning the power of their voices and opening themselves up to possibility –something that resonates across generations," McDonough added in a statement. "This lineup is built for curious humans, with expanded programming for all ages, a true invitation for new and returning audiences alike. It was a pleasure to collaborate with Curt on shaping the season, and we’re excited to share it with our community.”
