Tottenham confirms death of coach Igor Tudor's father

Tottenham has confirmed that the father of interim head coach Igor Tudor has died.

Tudor did not attend his postgame press conference after Spurs fell 3-0 to Nottingham Forest on Sunday, March 22, plunging the north London side further into relegation trouble.

Assistant coach assistant Bruno Saltor filled in for Tudor and said that the Croatian had a "family issue" that forced him to miss the press conference.

“It’s a personal family issue and obviously it’s a difficult moment for him,” Saltor said.

On Monday, March 23, Tottenham confirmed the death of Tudor's father.

"Everyone at Tottenham Hotspur is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Igor Tudor's father, Mario," the club said in a statement.

"Our thoughts and condolences go out to Igor and his family during this incredibly difficult time."

According to Britain’s Press Association, Tudor was informed of his father's passing immediately after the match against Forest ended.

Tudor, 47, has lost five of his seven games after being appointed in February after Thomas Frank was sacked.

Tottenham ended the weekend one point and one place above the relegation zone.
