Todd Howard will not need long to get adjusted to his new role.
Howard, a longtime college and high school basketball coach in Indiana, was named the second men's basketball coach in program history at Indiana University-Columbus on Wednesday. He comes to the NAIA program after spending the past two seasons at Marian University as the associate head coach.
Howard is entering his 32nd year as a basketball coach in Indiana, with experience at the Division I, NAIA, high school, and youth levels.

Prior to his time at Marian, Howard spent eight seasons as the head coach at Brebeuf Jesuit from 2014 to 2024. In his time at Brebeuf, Howard amassed over 150 wins.

Howard also spent 19 years at IUPUI, now IU Indy, where he spent time in multiple roles on staff. He spent six years as an assistant, then another 10 years as an associate coach where he helped the program transition to Division I. In 2011 he was named head coach of the Jaguars, coaching the team for three seasons.
In Howard's time at IU Indy, he coached former Pacers' guard and Broad Ripple High School graduate George Hill. In the 2008 NBA Draft, Hill was drafted 26th overall to the San Antonio Spurs. Christian Siakam, older brother of Pacers' star Pascal Siakam, also spent time at IUPUI with Howard.
In just its third year as a program, IU Columbus looks to take the next step with Howard at the helm. The Crimson Pride compete in the River States Conference at the NAIA level.
IU-Columbus was 2-26 last season. James Adams moved over from the men's program to coach the women's team.
