A Philippine official says authorities found alleged child sexual abuse material at Thomas Markle Sr.'s home as part of an ongoing investigation into the father of Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle.
Interior Minister Jonvic Remulla told The Guardian that investigators uncovered a trove of graphic materials involving children, alongside a laptop, during their search of Thomas Sr.'s residence.

The minister added that the findings raised serious concerns, though authorities are waiting for forensic analysis before reaching a conclusion. Remulla reported to the outlet:
"In these cases where family disputes are mixed up, we have to consider all the angles. Right now all signs point to a possible sex offender of the grossest kind.”

He continued, assuring the public about the time frame for the data’s availability.
“We want to be sure before we release the findings. The forensics data will be complete in a week.”
The investigation began after Thomas Markle Jr., Thomas Sr.'s son and Meghan Markle’s half-brother, reported the 82-year-old to authorities over the alleged material.
Thomas Markle Sr., however, denied the accusations, dismissing the claims as "sick lies."
Thomas Jr. previously told The Sun he discovered "hundreds, if not thousands" of alleged child sexual abuse images before reporting his father.

Meghan Markle’s official statement amid estranged father Thomas Markle Sr.’s allegations
Amid the disturbing news about her estranged father, Meghan Markle issued a statement via People, expressing how “deeply distressed” she was.
“I am deeply distressed at the news that has come to light in the last 24 hours, and my thoughts are with any children who may have been harmed.”
The Duchess of Sussex clarified that the Met's Royalty and Specialist Protection received a letter in January 2019, containing "troubling and disturbing" allegations regarding Thomas Markle Sr., and it was “subsequently shared” with her.

At the time, per the mom of two, she was assured that the investigation was underway.
“I hope it can now be understood that, despite certain media publications’ distortion over the years, any distance from my father and my choice to not allow him to have contact with our children, was for one reason: to protect them.”
Meghan Markle continued:
“I trusted that the authorities were doing the same for other families. Although the breadth of what has now been uncovered is more sickening than one could ever imagine, my sincerest hope is that justice will be fully served and that the priority remains the safety and protection of innocent children.”
However, after discovering that she had known about the allegations against her father, a few public figures began raising questions.
Piers Morgan took to X and wrote:
“Wow. How long did she know?”
Broadcaster Megyn Kelly also made a pointed post on the platform.
“She’s known for nearly eight years and she did nothing.”
