Smoke rises over downtown Nashville after fire reported
The Nashville Fire Department and Metro Nashville Police Department were on the scene after a fire was reported along 4th Avenue South in downtown Nashville the afternoon of Thursday, May 7.
Dark smoke could be seen rising over downtown just after 1 p.m. By 1:30 p.m. firefighters clogged 4th Avenue South as tourists held their phones in front of their faces, filming smoke as it poured from a mechanical unit on the roof of a building next to the Bon Jovi Bar.The building is largely boarded up, but a historic zoning hearing sign is affixed to the front. Ladder trucks extended their arms to the roof top where three firefighters directed blasts of water. The blaze, which sent billowing black smoke into the air, was quickly quelled. No other details on the fire were immediately available.
