Since 2022, the Sister Wives One-on-One specials have been hosted by Sukanya Krishnan. Over the years, as she got to know the Brown family, she found one cast member to be a true “tough nut to crack.”
In an interview for the podcast The Sister Wives Professor, Krishnan spoke openly about her experiences with interviewing the Browns. She also revealed which cast member was more guarded than the others.
"I think sometimes the toughest interview for me has not been Kody Brown but Meri Brown," Krishnan said. “When I first met her, she was tough. She’s a tough nut to crack.
However, during the Season 20 season ender, the journalist admitted that she believes Meri is ready to talk. “This season, you really see her [open up] at the Tell-All. She’s got a support system with [friend] Jenn [Sullivan]."

“And you can really see her come out and talk and share her feelings because she has a safe space. And she hasn’t really had that safe space or a person who can hold space for her, and her emotions, and validate her.”

However, it's not only Meri who appears to dictate just how far Krishnan can push for information. She admitted that despite having established a relationship with Meri, Kody, Christine Brown Woolley, Janelle Brown, and Robyn Brown, her conversations are only "going to go as far as they want me to go."
She added, "We've seen the family unravel since the first time I sat down with them in 2022, to what's happening [now]. It's gaining their trust, too. There are so many layers to this family's story. Some of it we've heard, and we think we all know it, but the reality is we don't know all the nuances within their own family culture, and we peel back the layers as much as they'll allow us to."
Krishnan concluded that she tries to "disarm" the cast to create a "space where they can talk and that they feel safe in." She added that getting to that place is "hard" because of how the family has fallen apart in recent years.
Part 2 of the Sister Wives One on One episodes airs Sunday, January 18 at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
