BigXthaPlug was arrested in Texas on DWI, drug and firearm charges the day he was supposed to headline a music festival in Canada. The arrest came exactly one year after the music artist was arrested in the Dallas area on similar charges.
The 28-year-old rapper and songwriter, born Xavier Landum, was arrested in the Dallas suburb of Allen on Friday, Aug. 21, an Allen Police Department spokesperson confirmed to PEOPLE.
BigX was booked into the Collin County Jail and charged with three misdemeanor counts: driving while intoxicated, marijuana possession of less than 2 oz. and unlawful possession of a firearm, FOX 4 News, NBC 5 DFW and USA Today reported, citing jail records.
The details of the rapper’s arrest are not yet clear. He was released from jail in time to perform a show in Iowa the following day, Saturday, Aug. 22.

Reps for BigXthaPlug did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on Sunday, Aug. 23.
The “Levels” rapper was set to headline the Country Rising Festival in Winnipeg, Canada, on Friday. Ahead of his set, the festival announced that BigX would “no longer be able to perform” due to a “personal emergency.”
On Saturday, BigX’s show at the Iowa State Fair went on as planned despite his Friday arrest, USA Today reported. “Des Moines, Iowa, I’m on my way,” he said in a video shared on Instagram Stories ahead of the gig.

BigX also acknowledged his arrest at the show, with social media videos showing him telling the crowd: “They didn’t think I was coming.” Per USA Today, he also told the audience, “When I was in Collin County, I was praying hard. I was like, ‘Please let me make it to Des Moines, Iowa.’ ”

The artist also appeared to acknowledge his arrest with an Instagram post promoting his new record on Saturday.
“THAT SHIT LITE 🤦🏾♂️… ALBUM OTW…,” BigX wrote alongside a music video snippet. He used his Friday mugshot as the cover photo for the post.

BigX’s Friday arrest in the Dallas suburbs came exactly one year after he was arrested in the area hours after hosting a release party for his album I Hope You’re Happy. The rapper was booked on charges of marijuana possession of less than 2 oz. and unlawful possession of a firearm, according to Dallas County Jail records viewed by PEOPLE at the time.
He was also arrested in February 2025 in Arlington, Texas, for possession of less than 2 oz. of marijuana, according to NBC 5 DFW.
