A source tells PEOPLE Clarkson is "excited to move at a different pace"
Kelly Clarkson is preparing for her next chapter after deciding to step away from her daytime talk show.
“After years of an intense daily schedule, she’s excited to move at a different pace and have more flexibility to spend time with her kids without the structure of a daily show," a source exclusively tells PEOPLE.
"This change gives her the space to be more present at home while still doing the creative work she loves," the source continues. "Kelly still wants to make music and perform, and she’s open to popping up on projects she enjoys, but nothing that requires an ongoing daily grind. For her, this next phase is about balance.”

The Grammy winner, 43, announced on Monday, Feb. 2, that the current season of The Kelly Clarkson Show will be its last, bringing the NBC series to an end after seven seasons.
In a statement shared on Instagram, Clarkson reflected on her time hosting the show and the team behind it.
“I have been extremely fortunate to work with such an outstanding group of people at ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show,' both in Los Angeles and New York,” the singer wrote. “There have been so many amazing moments and shows over these seven seasons. I am forever grateful and honored to have worked alongside the greatest band and crew you could hope for, all the talent and inspiring people who have shared their time and lives with us, all the fans who have supported our show and to NBC for always being such a supportive and incredible partner."
Clarkson went on to share that the decision will allow her to "prioritize" her two children: daughter River, 11, and Remington "Remy," 9, whom she shares with her late ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock.

"This was not an easy decision, but this season will be my last hosting ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show,’" she continued. "Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives."
The "Stronger" singer filed for divorce from Blackstock in June 2020 after nearly seven years of marriage. The exes were entangled in a lengthy legal battle surrounding spousal support, custody of their two children and Clarkson’s Montana ranch. Clarkson won primary custody of their children in November 2020, and the former couple eventually settled their divorce in March 2022. Blackstock was ordered to leave the ranch by June 2022.
In the summer of 2023, the singer-songwriter and her children moved to New York ahead of the fifth season of The Kelly Clarkson Show.
Blackstock died from cancer in August 2025. He was 48.
"It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away," a rep for the family told PEOPLE in a statement. "Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time."
