Anthony Cantor secured his third consecutive Jeopardy! victory Wednesday, finishing with $16,399 and bringing his total winnings to $58,800.
The television and podcast producer from Toronto entered the game as a two-day champion with $42,401. His challengers were Kayla Patel, a recent graduate from Mount Laurel, New Jersey; and Sam Robison, a teacher from Birmingham, Alabama.
Cantor's winning performance followed an immediate setback. He found the first Daily Double on the opening clue and lost $1,000 in the "Tales of the City" category. The $800 clue read, "The Sun Also Rises" in this city, where - no bull - characters are "going to the fiesta."

Despite that early loss, Cantor had moved into first place by the initial commercial break. He held $2,800, narrowly ahead of Robison's $2,600, while Patel had $1,200.
The defending champion widened that margin through the remainder of the opening round. By the start of Double Jeopardy, he had $7,000, more than twice Robison's $3,400. Patel entered the second round with $2,200.

The next two Daily Doubles gave both challengers opportunities to change the standings, with sharply different results.
Patel uncovered the second Daily Double in "Time Stamped," wagering $4,000 on the $1,200 clue: "Napoleon praised this quality, especially the 2:00 in the morning kind, when one is unprepared."
Her incorrect response cost her the wager and dealt a substantial blow to her chances of catching Cantor.

Robison had better luck with the third Daily Double, adding $3,000 after selecting an $800 clue in "Latinos & Latinas."
It read: "In 2024 she won nearly 70% of the vote to keep her seat in Congress repping New York's 14th district."
The successful wager helped Robison, but Cantor maintained enough distance to make the outcome his to control going into the final round.
Cantor finished Double Jeopardy with $14,600, compared with Robison's $6,400 and Patel's $600. With more than double his nearest opponent's score, he could protect his lead through a conservative Final Jeopardy wager.
The final category was "Ancient Artifacts," with the clue: "Discovered in 1974, these artifacts were armed with real weapons & none of the 7,000+ figures were the same."
All three contestants correctly identified the Terracotta Army, leaving their wagers to determine the final totals.
Cantor added $1,799 to finish with $16,399. Robison gained $1,400 and ended the game with $7,800, while Patel's $500 wager brought her score to $1,100.
Neither challenger was able to erase his second-round scoring advantage.
The victory extended Cantor's run to three games and moved his cumulative earnings within $1,200 of the $60,000 mark.
