Giada De Laurentiis’ daughter Jade shared her reaction to her mom’s cameo in a 2000 Counting Crows music video

Jade, 18, called her mom “really cool” and praised her beauty while joking about the song being “kind of mid”

De Laurentiis recently reflected on Jade turning 18 and preparing to leave for college, calling it an emotional transition

Giada De Laurentiis’ daughter, Jade, is sharing her “raw reaction” to the celebrity chef’s cameo in a Counting Crows video.

"Showing Jade that I was in a @countingcrows music video forever ago 💗 I got goosebumps watching this back with my 18year old 😭🥹," De Laurentiis, 55, captioned the post on Wednesday, May 6.

“Apparently my mom is in a music video,” Jade says in the social media video. “I've pulled it up here, and this is my raw reaction."

The Food Network alum appeared in a 2000 video for "Mrs. Potter's Lullaby," a track from the band’s third album, This Desert Life.

“I don’t know who Mrs. Potter is, but I’m excited to find out,” Jade tells her mom.

De Laurentiis points out that she was “super young” in the video. “Don’t blink,” she advises Jade, joking about her brief part in the video.

“Thank God you’re not an actor; that would be weird to see you act in movies,” Jade, whom De Laurentiis shares with ex-husband Todd Thompson, says.

When De Laurentiis finally shows up in the video, Jade tells her, “You're so pretty” and points out her “million dollar smile.”

“That was awesome,” Jade says of the video. “My feelings afterwards are that I have a really cool mom, who’s really pretty. And that song is kind of mid, but I appreciate her being in it.”

“No, no, no, but like, I know these people are like legends and people in the comments are going to be like ‘She's a kid she doesn't know anything,’" she adds. "So, all respect to Counting Crows.”

De Laurentiis recently shared a tribute for Jade’s 18th birthday in March.

“I blinked and woke up with an 18 year old this morning 😭,” she began the Instagram caption.

“So thankful to spend your last week of being 17 with you Jadey. Your wit, kindness, beauty, laughter, I am forever in awe of who you have become,” De Laurentiis continued.

She concluded the post, “You are my greatest gift- I love you more than you will ever know! Happy birthday Jadeyy!!!!

Jade is going to be a freshman at New York University in the fall, and Super-Italian cookbook author told PEOPLE in January that college will be “a whole new chapter” for the family.

“That moment of being a mom is sort of done,” she said. “I'm not done, but she goes to college, so I'm not here day-to-day the way that it has been for 18 years, and so that's a huge change.”

De Laurentiis admitted it felt “really weird” to be the mother of a soon-to-be college student.

“It's really exciting, but I think it's also incredibly emotional because everything I do with her I feel like is one of the last times I'm going to do it in this way,” she said. “I know people are like, ‘Yeah, but they come home for the holidays.’ But it's different. They don't live in your house anymore.”

“She may never live in my house again,” she added. “And even if she does, she'll be in her 20s. It'll be a totally different experience. And I only have one kid, so I'm one and done. So I think it's emotional, exciting, all wrapped up in one, and it's a lot to navigate through.”
