Former Steelers QB makes stance clear on Aaron Rodgers, Mike McCarthy reunion

One of the biggest criticisms the Pittsburgh Steelers faced under Mike Tomlin's regime was the team's failure to adapt. But a former Steelers quarterback believes that won't be a problem with Aaron Rodgers under center and new head coach Mike McCarthy calling the shots.

According to former Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch, the Rodgers-McCarthy reunion in Pittsburgh should completely transform the offense for the better, at least compared to what it was with Matt Canada and Arthur Smith at offensive coordinator.

"You're gonna change some things up, and you have to evolve in today's NFL," Batch said via The Snap Count podcast. "I don't think that's gonna be a challenge to [the Steelers] because once your quarterback knows what's going on, and he is the extension of the coaching staff out there, he can get your receivers and every pass catcher out there up to speed as far as when it needs to go. So, I think this offense would be in a lot better shape than it was in the past."

Batch is right about the offense being in better shape than it was in the past. But honestly, how could it have gotten any worse than it was under Tomlin's watch over the past several years?

McCarthy's brand of West Coast offense with Rodgers at quarterback could surprise a lot of Steelers fans heading into 2026, and with a completely overhauled assortment of pass catchers, the sky is the limit.
