"I always wanted to act and perform," he told PEOPLE in 2024. "I always had a little voice in my head that said, 'You can do this. You're good at it,' and I find that with each project, I have a better understanding of myself. If I hadn't booked* Zombies*, I don't know if I would be here, but I'm so happy that I found this love and this passion."

Mandy Moore, of *This Is Us*, voiced Rapunzel. Her Flynn was played by *Chuck* alum Zachary Levi. The supporting cast included Ron Perlman, Brad Garrett, Paul F. Tompkins, and Donna Murphy. The film was a hit, earning more than $591 million worldwide, spawning a TV series, and getting nominated for an Oscar in the Best Original Song category, for Alan Menken and Glenn Slater's tune "I See the Light."
EW reported in April that the movie would be helmed by Michael Gracey, the director of *The Greatest Showman*, while Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who co-wrote*Thor: Love and Thunder*, would pen the screenplay.
At the time, it was unclear whether the movie would ever be made at all. Work on it had been paused, EW confirmed, following the underwhelming performance of the live-action* Snow White* in its first two weeks at the box office.**
