Is Rachel McAdams joining the *Survivor* tribe?

The *Mean Girls* actress showed off her adventurous side in an awkward lo-fi video in which she appeared to audition for the CBS reality series.

"I wanna be the next *Survivor*!" McAdams says in the video. "I love to read, but I'm crazy about the outdoors, too. I can do bushcrafts with my eyes closed. When I get knocked down, I get right back up."

The video shows McAdams training in a gym, posing with a chess board, rolling around in the grass, swinging from monkey bars, and climbing trees.

"I work in strategy and planning, so you know I'll always be *at least* 10 steps ahead," she says. "When the going gets tough, I get going. People like me because I stay positive. I've been underestimated my whole life."

At the end of the video, McAdams directly addresses *Survivor* host Jeff Probst: "So what do you say, Jeff? Am I *Survivor* material? I'll give you a little hint: Heck yeah, I am."

The video itself bears little indication that it's fake, save for one small detail after it cuts to black: a tiny, nearly illegible copyright note from 20th Century Studios. Suspiciously, the video is hosted on that same studio's YouTube page, despite 20th Century having no involvement in *Survivor*.

That's because, unfortunately, McAdams isn't actually attempting to make it on *Survivor*. Instead, the video is a cheeky piece of promo for her upcoming movie *Send Help*.

The film, which is being released by 20th Century in January, sees McAdams play a bookish businesswoman stuck in a workplace conflict with her younger boss (Dylan O'Brien) — until the duo must join forces when they survive a plane crash on a deserted island. (Hence the loose *Survivor* connection.)

The film reunites McAdams with horror filmmaker Sam Raimi, who previously directed her in his last feature, 2022's *Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness*. The film marks the first horror film since 2009 for Raimi, who previously helmed the cult classic *Evil Dead* trilogy.

The trailer for *Send Help* sees McAdams putting her *Survivor*-ready skills to good use, as she skewers fish, builds shelter out of vines and branches, hunts a boar, and starts fires.

Raimi previously teased the project in an interview with ** published in October: "What I really love about this story is that it's an underdog tale at its core. Not only is it about survival on a deserted island, but it's also a story of female empowerment and transformation."

The filmmaker continued, "Watching a once-powerful boss find himself dependent on someone he underestimated is satisfying. Our story is universal! We need to encourage our society to treat people with respect and kindness, regardless of status. It's especially rewarding to see our heroine, Linda, come into her own in such an unexpected environment."

*Send Help* hits theaters on Jan. 30, 2026.
