On Instagram, Sabine shared a video of the moment her Ralph Lauren gown got stuck in an escalator

Sabine Getty experienced a wardrobe malfunction at the 2026 Oscars.

The 41-year-old jewelry designer, who is married to Joseph Getty, the grandson of oil tycoon Sir John Paul Getty, shared the details of the unfortunate incident in a Friday, March 20, Instagram post.

The carousel included photos and a video of the moment Sabine's ivory satin Ralph Lauren gown got stuck in an escalator at the awards show. The first image shows the billionaire crouched down with her hand covering her face, the train of her dress jammed in the bottom of the escalator.

In a video clip, a person standing next to Sabine can be heard saying, "It's so sad because it's such a beautiful dress." The designer then replied, "It's such a beautiful dress! It's really sad."

The carousel is capped off with a screenshot of a text message presumably sent to Sabine in reaction to the mishap, reading, "Like I expected hectic but nowhere near escalator near death dress massacre chaotic."

In a follow-up post shared on Sunday, March 22, Sabine gave followers a closer look at her ensemble for the Academy Awards. The socialite attended the ceremony as a producer of the docudrama short film The Voice of Hind Rajab, which was nominated for Best International Feature Film.

Sabine wasn't the only guest to have a wardrobe malfunction on Oscars night.

Alix Earle told Entertainment Tonight that she had to ask someone for a knife "because one of the beading things started coming undone" from her wine-colored Bob Mackie halter gown.

"We just sliced it a little," added the TikToker and Dancing with the Stars alum, 25.

The rest of her look stayed intact, and that included her jewelry, which was designed by Kendra Scott. Her collection of bling included the lab-grown Elisa Drop Earrings and custom Elisa rings stacked with three Marilyn bands.

After the blunder was resolved, Earle said she had plans to maybe get "someone's number" into her phone during the night. "I could meet someone," she joked.
