- Anya Taylor-Joy is getting candid about her first time voice-acting as Princess Peach.

- "The first time I ever did a session, I did not realize how taxing it would be because you're yelling continuously the whole time," she said on *Late Night with Seth Meyers*.

- The *Dune: Part Three *star also demonstrated the fine art of "efforts":**It's essentially like the action sequence, but you're doing it standing by yourself in a [recording] booth."

Anya Taylor-Joy is letting it all out when it comes to her voice acting experience.

While appearing on *Late Night with Seth Meyers** *on March 19, the *Super Mario Galaxy Movie *star was asked to give her insider's perspective on voicing a character in an animated movie.

"It's super fun," she began. "But I will say the first time I ever did a session, I did not realize how taxing it would be because you're yelling continuously the whole time. I think the first time I ever did it, I threw up."

Taylor-Joy said she drank a lot of water and was pumped up for the recording session.**

She also spoke about doing "efforts," which are recorded at the end of a session.

"It's essentially like the action sequence, but you're doing it standing by yourself in a booth." Taylor-Joy made a karate-hopping motion to demonstrate the process. "And you're just doing that for like half an hour, which makes you feel really cool," she quipped.

"I think you have to lightly dissociate," she continued. "And then, you know, you kind of visit yourself back and you think, 'God, I hope no one ever sees this,' because they do film them."

In a 2023 ** *Around the Table** *discussion with her *Mario *co-stars Charlie Day, Chris Pratt, Jack Black, and Keegan-Michael Key, Taylor-Joy spoke about the challenges and joys of voice acting.

“I think I was doing a six-hour session, and hour three I was out," Taylor-Joy recalled. "It was gone. Nothing I could really do about it other than, like, scream-cry, and push.”

She asked her costars if they felt like their voice acting improved the more they did it, and if they had any pointers for recording-booth novices. Pratt recommended old-school vocal warm-ups, while Key and Black each said they guzzled tea during their *Super Mario Bros. Movie* sessions.

"I drank a lot of Throat Coat on this one," Black said.

While promoting *Super Mario Galaxy*, Taylor-Joy was asked about the connection between Peach and Joni Mitchell, the legendary singer-songwriter she's rumored to portray in a biopic. The question seemingly baffled the internet, but Taylor-Joy handled it artfully.

"How they're both singular — you can’t touch them," she responded. "They're in a league of their own."
