The Devil Wears Prada 2 features over 20 celebrity cameos
Three major figures, including Anna Wintour and Sydney Sweeney, had their scenes cut, while one didn't make it behind the camera at all
Adrian Grenier expressed disappointment that his appearance in the movie didn't come to fruition
The Devil Wears Prada 2may have been packed with cameos, but not every celebrity made the cut.
"I think Miranda [Priestly]'s world on weekends is filled with cool, interesting people," director David Frankel told ScreenRant in April 2026 of the film's inclusions of many familiar faces like Lady Gaga and Donatella Versace schmoozing with the fictional editor-in-chief of Runway. "Anybody who's the best at what they do, she wants to have for lunch."
Though the sequel — which featured Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep reprising their iconic roles — featured appearances from more than 20 figures across fashion, journalism and sports, at least three major stars filmed scenes that were ultimately cut from the movie.

That's right, the fashion powerhouse that Streep's character was loosely based on reportedly filmed a quick on-screen moment that didn't make the final film.
Anna Wintour did "one take" on camera, but Frankel told Entertainment Weekly that she ended up being "a little out of focus." Understandably, he did not want to ask the legendary Vogue editor to do a second take.
"We actually explicitly didn't want Anna to be in the movie because it's a parallel world," the director explained in the April 2026 interview. "It was like, well, what is Vogue and who is Anna Wintour in a world where there's a Runway and Miranda Priestly? It felt like it was too meta."
Sydney Sweeney

In 2025, Sydney Sweeney was spotted on the set of The Devil Wears Prada 2, sparking speculation that she would appear in the sequel.
Though she did play herself in a three-minute scene where she's being dressed by Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt), the footage was cut for structural reasons, per Entertainment Weekly.

How to Get Away With Murder star Conrad Ricamora was originally cast in the movie as Andy Sachs' (Hathaway) roommate. However, Varietyreported that his character and the scenes he filmed were axed from the final product after test audiences questioned why Andy would need a roommate.
"Filming #thedevilwearsprada2 was one of the best working experiences of my life," the actor later shared in an April 2026 Instagram post acknowledging his scrapped role.
He added, joking, "However, in the end, my character didn't make sense in the grand scheme of the film (something about me being too sexy and hott and my muscles being too big…story of my life)."
Adrian Grenier

Fans of the original Devil Wears Prada were curious whether the movie's alleged "real" villain would return in the sequel. Adrian Grenier, who played Sachs' boyfriend in the 2006 movie, had a planned cameo that, sadly, didn't work out.
"I had an idea about sneaking him into a cameo," Frankel confirmed to Entertainment Weeklyin April 2026, "and, in the end, it was just too late in our production schedule to make it happen."
Though the director would not say what he had in store for Grenier's character, the actor told PEOPLE in March 2026 that he was "disappointed" Nate didn't make it into the sequel.
"But, you know, apparently, my character is a controversial character, so he might need his own spinoff,” he said, acknowledging the fan consensus. "If Nate is actually the devil in The Devil Wears Prada, I'd like to see what his character does beyond."
