Looks like one iconic '80s rock star's "Freeze Frame" on performing is finally over. After a much-needed "sabbatical" from touring to work on his recent rock memoir, former J. Geils Band frontman Peter Wolf is returning to the stage for a string of shows in 2026.
As Ultimate Classic Rock reported, Wolf, 79, has revealed the dates and locations of six shows at this point, kicking off on Feb. 13 in Fall River, Mass., and running through Mar. 28 in Greenwich, RI, with more shows to be added.
Wolf will be accompanied onstage by his longtime band, the Midnight Travelers, who were also on hand for his 2024 acoustic tour.
Whether or not Wolf will include his chart-topping hits with the J. Geils Band in his upcoming sets remains to be seen, but people definitely still love to hear them. At the time of this writing, "Centerfold" —which shot to #1 in February of 1982 — has been streamed 404,705,737 times on Spotify.
When can fans expect new music from Peter Wolf?
Earlier this year, Wolf told Billboard that he was working on a new album which was about "80 percent" finished at the time and will be his first release since 2016's A Cure for Loneliness.
“It occurred to me that my solo recordings, a lot of them went unnoticed, and I realized that if I put this out with the way things are these days, it can turn to vapor quite easily and be another lost solo effort,” Wolf explained, adding, “So I thought, ‘Well, maybe now is the time to write that book I’ve been talking about for decades.’ I think if the book connects with people it would even put the wind beneath my wings to finish the record and put it out.”
Wolf's book, Waiting on the Moon: Artists, Poets, Drifters, Grifters, and Goddesses was published in March 2025, while tickets are going on sale for most of his upcoming concerts today, Dec. 19. No word yet on when his new album will drop, but maybe the new year will be a lucky one for fans.
